Five key questions

Why is the youth unemployment rate so high?
one reason is that the basic jobs the recquired minimul skill have been taken by immigrants. these jobs where the jobs youths would typically take for part time work or for an easy route into the world of work. now that these spaces have been filled up its alot harder for youths to get into the working world. another reaspn that has been argued to why youth unemployment is so high is that the minimum wage is to high for younger people. however this point can be argued because there are no statistics showing that the minimum wage links in with youth unemployment. another reason is that youth are dropping out of school with very little qualifications therefore they lack the basic skills and qualities they would need to enter the world of work.

how is it measured?
Unemployment is measured by how many people claim benefits. benefits is money the governemnt give to unemployed people. however they can still seek this even if they are looking for work. the government analyse how many people claim benefits and they get their statistics on how many people are jobless from this. however this can be argued that it is not an accurate way to calculate unemployment levels because some people could be working and still claims job seekers allowance. also people could be jobless and not bother to inform authorities so they do not claim benefits and yet they are still jobless.

who is responsible for youth unemployment?
the main people to be blamed for youth unemployment are employers and the government. people may judge  the schools and colleges youths come from for why they are unemployed.because they may say the schools and colleges have not provided the youths with essential skills and education they need however schools and colleges are improving drastically every year. surveys have been conducted and we have found out that businesses have taken money out of developing for the future i.e taking on board youths and young workers and furthering their skills to benefit the business for the future. also the government only listen to what is being said about youth unemployment and react by forever changing the education systems and this is not the way to act.
